Group Scout Leader and Section Reports
An annual report has been circulated to all families and once again shows how the Group has been active and very busy over the year. The Scouts are recently back from a week in Cornwall and the Cubs attended Cubjam in May. Louise thanked all the leadership team, parents and young people for their commitment to scouting over the year.
There has been a lot of work been put into starting up a Scout Group in Papworth, initially as part of our Group. The Scout Troop will open up next week and they are hoping to follow by opening a Cub Pack and Beaver Colony early in 2017.
Treasures Report and appointment of independent scrutineer
The Treasurer’s report was circulated along with the annual report, it shows that the accounts are in a healthy position. There was an increase in the subs this year and the 4 bank accounts consolidated into one, thanks to the parents for ensuring all the payments were updated as required.
Louise stressed that one of the easiest ways of fundraising is to sign up to the Easyfundraising shopping link, this will provide a small donation each time you shop online at no extra cost to you. There are currently 25 users and they have raised just under £300 this year. See below for details.
Do you ever shop on-line, or know someone who does? Please sign up to our fundraising website, it doesn't cost you a penny and we get much needed funds! Ideally simply click on this link and then on the option to allow you to install the "donation reminder" (Then if you click on any site that's part of the scheme a message comes up at the top of the screen asking if you want to donate to our Group if you order, each time you go in it does it automatically). By signing up to the scheme (even if you don't install the tool) each time you place an order that generates a donation you will get told how much it was and get to see a running total for the Group. Please consider signing up, and sharing the link with friends, family and colleagues - every penny counts after all!
Martin thanked the executive team for their work over the year. The fundraising events this year were the Christmas Lights where the Cub’s Sixers and Seconders ran games and refreshments. Fenstanton Sports Day when we had a welly wanging game and lucky socks. There are more events coming up and Martin thanked all parents and volunteers who have turned up to help and take part in the fundraising events.
Martin will be standing down as Chairperson. Louise thanked Martin for all he has done over the three years he has been Chair and presented him with a gift which will help him with his new role in as a Leader in the Cub Pack.
