Explorer Scouts are young people, usually aged between 14 and 18 years old. Our local Explorer Units cover the whole of Cromwell District, and are both based in St Ives. Alongside your friends, you'll gain skills that will stay with you for life while trying new and adventurous things.
Whether you're hiking to faraway lands or building a robot, you'll have the freedom to choose what you'd like to do, and work together with your leaders to make it happen.
Our Scout Troop regularly takes part in events and activities that means our Scouts probably know some of the Explorers already, especially the ones who used to go to our Troop.
From age 14 to 18, you can also volunteer as a Young Leader to help the next generation of Beavers, Cubs and Scouts fulfil their potential. Whilst the role is great fun it also brings with it some responsibilities, as in our Scout Group the Young Leaders are expected to play an active part in our full Leadership Team. It is a role that helps with enhancing college and job applications, as well as being a great way to meet new people when moving around. In the past few years many of our Young Leaders have taken on adult roles, if not with us then with Groups we have linked them to at University.
